Youth Friday Celebration at St. Mary’s Cathedral
Two pupils from Year 6 got the opportunity to go to St. Mary’s Cathedral in Newcastle on the 4th February.
Alisha and Natasha had a lovely time with Mrs. Burge and Mr. Rudd. When they got there they started by going to a souvenir shop where they bought some gifts for school and friends. They bought a picture of The Last Supper to go on the altar in the school hall, a music CD and some prayers to match, also a footprint for First Steps .
After that they made their way to the Cathedral, where they took their places at the front where their seats had been reserved. Then they sang some songs and Alisha read a prayer about the youth ministry team, linking that to Outrageous Hope. ( This was the theme of The Youth Friday Liturgy, held in November.) Bishop Seamus gave a speech and all of the children shook his hand. We had an amazing day!
