On Thursday 30th June, Year 3 took part in a sports multi skills event at Bishop Barrington. They had a great time trying lots of different sports. Visit their class page to read more about the day and see some photographs.
Battle of the Somme
On Friday 1st July, a special assembly was held in school to commemorate the centenary of the start of the Battle of the Somme. It was held by Mr Roxborough, who helped us think about the experiences of the soldiers who took part, in a poignant way. You can see some photographs of the assembly below.
Our Kynren Stars!
If you saw BBC news this morning you will have seen the fantastic national report on Kynren. Some of our children and staff who are taking part in the event appeared.
Mrs Kinsey and her family gave a great interview and Nina, Livvy, David and Jack can all be seen doing a fantastic job of re-enacting their historical scenes. You can spot Mrs Salter and Mrs Sayers performing too. Mrs Pickering has also volunteered to help and if you visit the event you may spot her in the box office or meeting and greeting visitors. Well done to them all!
For those who missed the report this morning it will be repeated on BBC news at 1pm and the Kinseys can be heard on Radio 4 at 3pm, in a further interview this afternoon.
You can also view the report on the BBC news website.
The Gazette also has a report containing some great video clips, which you can see here.
If you wish to find out more information or purchase tickets for Kynren, you can do so on the Eleven Arches website.
Year 6 Care4Calais
Year 6 visited the Youth Village on Tuesday and enjoyed some great activities. Before we went we had fund-raised to purchase some items for Care4Calais. We brought in individual donations and sold programmes on Sports Day to raise money.
We were able to donate 6 sleeping bags and 2 roll mats to the charity. You can see some pictures of us donating these items below.
Thank you to everyone who supported us.
To read more about our day, visit Year 6’s News page.
Sports Day
Despite the drizzle, we all had a great time last Friday. Well done to the Blue Team, who were this years champions!

Family Mass
Our next Family Mass at St. Mary’s church will take place this Sunday (12th June) at 11am. As usual, our children will be taking an active part in the service. Please join us; all our families are most welcome!
Our First Holy Communions
On Saturday 7th May, a number of our children received their First Holy Communion at St. Mary’s Church. It was a lovely day, celebrated with families, staff and parishioners. We then enjoyed a super party in school on Thursday 12th May, with all of the children who had received Communion from St Wilfrid’s and St Mary’s Parish. We danced, ate cake (made by Matthew’s very clever mum), played games, and had a brilliant afternoon. We have included some of the pictures from the party.
