On 20th September, Durham County Council will be holding a Cyber Safety Day at County Hall. Sessions include ‘Be a switched on parent’ represented by Durham Constabulary’s Cyber Crime unit and protecting vulnerable people from fraud. You can also call in any time to check how secure your mobile device is.

Pokemon Go is set to be the craze of this summer. The UK Safer Internet Centre has published some useful information for parents about using the app safely. You can read their advice here.

We had a great time at our annual Proms in the Playground, which this year was inspired by Kynren. We celebrated the history of Britain with song and dance. Thank you to all the families who came along and supported us. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

On Wednesday 13th July, Year 2 visited Etherley Lane school and had great fun taking part in outdoor adventure activities.

We all had to choke back our tears today as Year 6 performed ‘Reach for the Stars’ for us, to say goodbye.
They did a fantastic job and we were very proud of them. They have all been brilliant during their time at our school and we will miss them very much. We wish them all the best for the future.

We have had a fantastic time today (Tuesday 12th July,) celebrating the good behaviour of our lovely children with a water fun day. Each class spent an hour on the field playing with inflatables, hosepipes, pools and water guns. Even the teachers got soaked (we suspect that may have been the highlight of the day for lots of our children!)
We will be raffling the equipment we used at Proms in the Playground on Monday (18th July.) Tickets will be sold from tomorrow for £1 each.

Below are dates for the rest of term:
Monday 11th July – Bring spare kit and water pistols for behaviour treat – will take place sometime this week, depending on weather.
Wednesday 13th July – Leavers’ assembly in school at 1:30pm for Year 6 families.
Thursday 14th and Friday 15th July – Year 6 moving up days to secondary schools.
Friday 15th July – Children move up to new classes for the morning.
Monday 18th July – Families invited to proms in the playground 1:30pm
Tuesday 19th July – First Steps Party
Tuesday 19th July – Leavers’ Disco 5:30 – 7:30pm (Year 1 to Year 6 welcome to attend.)
Wednesday 20th July – First Steps Graduation 9:30am
Wednesday 20th July – Break up for summer holidays
Tuesday 6th September – Children return to school

Our Team
Wear Valley & Teesdale district are Primary School Athletics County Champions for a second year running.
Codi, Bailey and McKenna took part in the team, which included 10 schools from across our area. The team showed great strength and commitment and it is a massive achievement to beat the other 5 districts for the second year running. Well done to them all!
